lost for the f1rst few days the upperclassmen proved to be rnvaluable ards 1n help1ng us f1nd our new
classes Soon we elected Student Counctl representatrves and homeroom offtcers Susan Brrele was our
flISI WIDICI Camtval attendant The sophomores rn the May Court were Joyce Kotar1des Susan Rayne
and Ltnda Steere Jrm Stewart was elected second v1ce pres1dent and Margaret Roe secretary treasurer
of the 1958 1959 Student Councrl
The summer passed raprdly and now we were Junrors Our Junror Class offrcers were Davrd Oursler
presrdent Bob Esham vrce presldent Judy Murphey secretary and Phyllrs Trrce treasurer The Jumor
Class Play Caught 1n the Webb was done Wllh arena stagmg Mtss MacMurr1an d1rected th1s fme
performance All of us were proud when our school was elected Secretary of the Maryland Assoc1at1on of
Student Counctls a pos1t1on frlled by Margaret Roe J1m Stewart was elected presrdent and Norman
Conway v1ce presrdent of next year s Student Counc1l The Maryland Assocratron of Future Teachers
Amerrca elected Phyllrs Trtce as 1rs second vrce presrdent Nelson fButchJ Van Sant was grven the
school Musrc Award Joyce Kotarrdes was our WlHICI Carnrval representatrve and Carolyn Jones Dolores
MacM1llan and Susan Rayne were May Court attendants Twenty one Junrors were rnducted tnto the
Natronal Honor Socrety The Junror Senror Banquet rmpressed upon us that now we were almost sen1ors

was edrtor of the W1 H1 News The edrtor of the Tom Tom was John Howard Pat Ph1ll1ps and
Brenda Johnson were assrstant edrtors and Pat Parks was busrness manager Carolyn Jones served as our
permanent delegate to the Lower Shore Assocratton of Student Councrls We all feel that our class was
greatly enrrched by havrng Jutta Keulen from Germany and Kelth Yorston from New Zealand as the
Amerrcan Fteld Servrce exchange students The Senror Class Play Boy Wrth a Cart was truly a frne
performance aga1n ustng arena stagrng We 1n1t1ated Homecom1ng at Wl H1 and Carolyn Jones was
elected by the football team as queen w1th Susan Brrele as her senror attendant Ltnda Steere rergned as
Wrnter Carnrval Queen The Elks Leadersh1p Awards were won by Phyllts Trrce and Jrm Stewart frrst
place and Phylrss Morgan and John Howard second place The Scholarshrp Awards were won by Brenda
Johnson and John Howard Those who placed hrghest 1n the Herald Trrbune Forum test wrnntng a tr1p
to New York were Harry Bragg Ronme L1lley John Howard and Dabney Morrrss We shall always
fondly remember the Junror Senror Banquet the May Dance our Senror Prom and the Senror Awards
Program Baccalaureate and Commencement marked the end and the begrnntng the end of our hrgh
school days and the beg1nn1ng of our adult lrves
