MRS. T. RICHARD MOSS, M.A. Colum bin University Speech The ability to express ideas correctly and distinctly is of pri- mary importance to everyone. The Department of Speech gives stu- dents the opportunity to develop this necessary talent. After taking the fundamental speaking courses, a student may advance into debate, which teaches him to organize facts and present them in a con- vincing mannerg into Amateur Guild or the National Thespian Society, where the finer points of the art of dramatics are learnedg or into Radio-TV and Stagecraft. Each year this department participates in the Texas Inter- scholastic League competition and has established a record that makes the school proud of its De- partment of Speech. H. SAMUELS Columbia University, M.S. Music Every year the world witnesses change after change in styles of music. One style has its period of popularity and then gives way to another. The Department of Music of WFHS, con! sisting of the choirs, band, and orchestra, recognizes these changes and tries to keep the student body acquainted and in- formed about thern. We should be grateful to the musical or- ganizations for the entertainment they furnish at pep rallies, games, sticial assemblies, and the commencement exercises and for the air of culture they give to our school.
