SMALL ENSEMBLES A boys' ensemble, chosen from the boys' glee club took part in the musical production, nMusic of Our Natlon.' They also presented a special number at the Junior Play. A boys' trio presented a number at the Banks School Com unlty meeting. The Girls' Sextet made its f1rst public appearance at the Jackson County Teacher's meeting at Holton in the fall of '48 Later they presented numbers at the Junior Play, The Musical, and at the Banks School community meetlng he sextet's entry in the District Music Festival at Lawrence on Apr1l l rece1ved a II rat1ng Their last appearance was at the com encement exerclses on May l9. BAND Wh1t1ng H1gh's band concentrated ma1nly on pep numbers for basketball games durlng the school year They were very happy to be gmven the opportunitv to play at the finals of the Jackson County Tournament at Holton of February 17 SOLOS Solos at the various presentations this year were carried by Ethel Narle Warn1ng, Narllyn Jenson, Karen Lentz, Vada Stoner, and Eugene Sche1d, Two voice solos and two piano solos were entered in the Dlstr1ct TISIO Festlval in Lawrence on April 2 and were rated as follows Joice solo Karen Lentz Vada Stoner Piano solo harilyn J nson III Because sh received the I ratlng at Lawrence, Karen Lentz was eliglble to enter the State Festival at Emporla on April 30 Har entry there T6CG1V9d a rating of II .
