. ,-. -- ? -- CLASS HISTORY In September, 1945 n1ne freshmen enrolled in Nhlting H1gh School, ready to spend the next four years preparing themselves for the future Those who enrolled were Leona Hadden, Esther harms Esth r dutch1nson, Barbara Jones B111 Jones, Harl y Kreutzer ugene Sche1d, Johnny Smith and Loretta Splker As 1S the custom, the class was inltlated by the upper classmen Durlng the year Pnyllls Smith, Gunn Smith and DeForr st Howes enrolled Gwen rema1ned only a few weeks Esther Harms and Leona Hadden were elected cheerleaders The class sponsor was 1158 Anna Pfrang At the beglnnlng of the sophomore year there were ten Leona Hadden had moved to Topeka dur1ng the sum er and en rolled at Topeka Hlgh John Sm1th left durlng the year and enrolled in Horton H1gh th1s left only n1ne Seven of the class were in the all school play,nA Case of Sprlngtime At the beglnnlng of the JUn1OT vear, Barbara Jones d1d not enroll The class was very unusual th1s year 1n that there were four glrls and four bovs The entlre class par t1cipated in the Junlor Play, nThe Tummy and the Mumps On Saturday evenlng, Iav l they enterta1ned the SGHIOPS and the faculty at the Junlor SSHIOF Banquet lrs Newberry was the class sponsor had prevlously attended W11l1s H1gh School Eugene Sche1d was elected klng of the school carnlval and later ln the year was chosen as cheerleader to succeed h1na Sm1th, who moved to California All of the class took part 1n the all school play, nThe Sunshlne Twlns The class chose as the1r motto NThe door to success 1S labeled 'PUSH 'N the rose as the class flower ruby red and gold, as class colors The Junior class entertalned the seniors and faculty at the annual Junlor Senlor Banquet on Nonday evenlng Nay 9 The flrst ed1t1on of nThe Eagle' since 1942 was publlshed bv the class Baccalaurelte servlces were held on Sunday evenlng May 15, in the high school auditorzum ard ccnm acer n exercises, on Thursday venlng, kay 19 Thus ended four years of h1gh school work and good times . , .
