Points are given for various club activities. When a student acquires the necessary points, he is then invited to become a member of the Thespian Troupe. 32

Branham, T. Gaughn. T. Harmon, J. Dougheny. Future farmers have chapter sweetheart The Whiteland Chapter of FFA selected Ryllis Doughtery for their Chapter Sweetheart. This was the first year this has been done. Merrill Kelsay is one of this chapter's outstanding members and is now serving as state FFA vice presi- dent. Merrill graduated from Whiteland in '67 and was president of the club during his senior year. 'Along with caring for the school shrubbery and working on the school farm they have the coat check at ball games and presented programs to the school and civic community groups. Yatsko, A. Theresa. Mr. Phillips. Health Club creates interest in medicine The main purpose of the Health Careers Club is to create interest in careers in the field of medicine. To this end, Mrs. Elizabeth Pope and Mrs. Doris Pickhardt, club sponsors, helped president, Linda Har- rison, to get many interesting films and speakers for programs during the club meetings this year. Red Cross busy with overseas box The Red Cross Club of W.C.H.S. is a service club devoted to furthering the activities and projects of the Johnson County Red Cross and the National Red Cross. It's projects are those suggested by the Red Cross high school youth. The projects this year have included individual friendship boxes that were sent to needy school children, and a large overseas box was sent to a needy school designated by the National Red Cross. They also sup- plied tray favors made by the group to local hospitals and nursing homes for special holidays. This year the club sponsored a safety program within the school.
