For most students it is the center of social life as weii as educationg it is the center of joys and tears, fun and disappoimment. As Que turns the pages of the 1969 Wmfior, he will receive 2, giimpse of the memories which will rf-:main with many students through- uutz iheif entire lives. 3 All The Memories That Are Ours Memories are something very special, for once one has them they can never be taken away. There are good memories, as of an exciting basketball game, and there are bad memories, as of a difficult problem in math class. There are always the memories a senior girl has when she K looks over the trophy case and knows that she will not be around next year when more are won. The music department, the shop, the classrooms, the clubs, the games, and the dances are all a part of W.C.H.S. and of the memories that are ours. One, and a two, and a three . . . Officials. give aid, inspire good memories To some students the administration is com- prised of people to be feared. Some students are terrified with the thought of appearing ' before a teacher or other administrative official for guidance in studies or otherwise. But with- out the teaching and guidance of the members of this department, the students of Whiteland Community High School would go into the world, ignorant of the basic elementaries of learning and undisciplined to a certain degree. The administration, in a large way, teaches us how to lead wholesome and fulfilling lives. It teaches us how to use our knowledge for the betterment of our country and the people who live in it. The administrative department at Whiteland is not a department to be feared but a part of our school to be remembered and respected for the knowledge theyimpart in us. Wrestlers show great spirit with high honor The W.C.H.S. wrestlers would have to be the best in the county. One reason was their 14-0 season record. Not only that, they also won the Mooresville Invitational and the Johnson County Wrestling meet. The wrestlers placed second in the Mid-State and fourth in the Sectional. Senior Joe Hodge was the first wrestler from W.C.H.S. to enter the state finals, and junior Oliver Pointer placed in the sectional. Although some very im- portant decisions were being made, the juniors always found time for fun and foolishness. Throughout the year they excelled in all activities. Both football and basketball homecoming queens came from the junior class, and they also won the teepee con- test. The entire year was spent in the planning and antici- pation of the Prom, which was held May 16 at the Sher- wood Country Club. The Prom theme was Cherish g the class colors were crimrose yellow and leaf green, and the daisy was chosen for the class flower. The motto chosen to guide them through the senior year, The surest way not to fail is to be determined to succeed, made them begin to realize that high school years were coming to an end. As they at- tended Mr. Mitchell's World history classes and diligently strove for the most superior form of essay papers, many minds wandered to future years. The beginning of dating years proved for some to be a joy, to others a little less successful. Many pon- dered over which style class ring suited them best and which dress would be most appropriate when next year's prom finally came. Games, parties, dances, and clubs they had anticipated in previous years became a part of their regular routine, and they were glad that this year marked only the beginning of the four wonderful years they would spend in high school. Although for some it was less than anticipated, the dreams of later years kept their spirits high. The pace was more rapid and de- manding, and the change marked the beginning of real maturity.
