Librarg Assistants Aid Students and Teachers in Locating Materials Checking out books, shelving books, filing cards in the card catalog are some of the duties of the library assistants. These students now receive credit for working in the library under the supervision of Mrs. Edith Brewer. The students are required to learn the Dewey Decimal classification system and the location of all materials in the library. They assist stu- dents and teachers in locating books as well as audio visual materials and machines. There are over 8,000 books and 2,000 audio visuals which include cassette tapes, records, film- strips, tapes and transparencies. 'IFJ' Xi- kt C. m 'wsf 'A' A. Students Volunteer Services in Office The office help is recruited from stu- dents in study hall. Their duties include answering the phone, taking messages, collecting absentee slips, checking roll, and running errands. The students are expected to be dependable, responsible, and maintain confidentiality about office matters. These students work under the supervision of Mr. Hagan, Mr. Nichols and Mrs. Wood. A. Clndy Jones takes phone messages. B. John Spencer is responsible for checking roll sixth period. C. Richard Max- well keeps the marquee up to date, D. Regina Fielding col- lects absentee slips during first period. E. Leslie Wiley listen- ing intently to a phone call from Mr. Nichols. F. Whitehouse ls Home for Lt. Governor For three consecutive years Whitehouse has been the home club for Lt. Gov. of Div. 34. The forty-eight members of the Kiwanis-sponsored, school-supervised organization, meets every Tuesday night and the second Tuesday of each N month during activity period. Key Club partici' pates in various projects during the year. This year the club raised 5950.00 in the Muscular Dystrophy roadblock and participated in the M.D. Telethon during the Labor Day weekend. They also conducted a Cystic Fibrosis drive and raised over 5240.00 Key Club and Speech Club members combined forces in a food collection drive for families in need during Thanksgiving. Key Clubbers, sponsored by Steve Calloway, serve as ushers and flag raisers at the home foot- ball games. In order to raise funds for the organi- zation members sold crystal tree ornaments before Christmas. WHS Key Club members that earn 100 points may participate in the Texas-Oklahoma District Convention in Ft. Worth. The purpose in this Con- vention is to elect and install district officers for the 1981-82 school year. The Key Club is open to any freshman, sopho- more, junior, or senior who maintains an average of 80 or better and who has an interest in helping others in the community and school.
