To an outsider sports means games, excitement and cheering But in the students' life, sports mean long hours of tiresome practice, high hopes and sometimes the lonely feeling of defeat as well as victory. Athletics takes on a broader aspect than merely winning games or cheering the team. It has a deeper and more significant importance to the spirit and life of a school. Qualities of sportsmanship, determina- tion, loyalty, and initiative evolve from athletics that are building fac- tors of strong characters and sound conviction. Individuals with these qualities become stars not only among their friends, but also in society, in America , and in the world.
