ASSEMBLIE INDIAN ASSEMBLY - Entertaining the junior highers were two Indians. They told many of the customs and sang tribal songs. Granted by the Constitution, the right to assemble is a privilege put to good use by Whitehall students. They gather innumerable times during the school year to witness various forms and kinds of entertainment. Lyceum programs are sprinkled through the terms, and the seniors in their last assem- bly, presented a taste of the senior class play, and the LOST and -I-esfomem of 1958. CHRISTMAS PROGRAM - Since there was no Candlelight Service, members of the senior academic section presented a play. Above is a scene from The Miracle of the Madonna. GUEST SPEAKER - Douglas Reed confers with George GIVING SPEECH - Samuel Beldlemar-, nominee for the presidency of Student Council, Heinick and Miss Omie Diefenderfer before speaking, delivers speech as C. Koehler, S, Latchaw, and T. McDonald listen. 23

Sum i YEARBOOK CONFERENCE - Penny Steckei and Margaret Moiine receive ideas from Otto Quaie at a yearbook clinic at Moravian Coiiege. Wanderlust and duty cails. Chicago was the site of the NSPA confer- ence 'rhis year, and Penny Steckei, editor-in- Chief of THE OWL and THE WHITEHALL, attended with Miss Marjorie Lazarus. Oh Captain and Radio City Music Hall were enioyed by the Concert Choir in New WINDY CITY - The Sheraton-Biackstore, on Iett of Sheii sigr, was the temporary York Cifyl While in The Same Wondel-fu! JOYCE SCHULER - Joyce, who likes to go to the mov.es on a date, expects to go to comptometer school after graduation from Whitehall. Often seen in a '57 Edsel, Joyce iust loves pizza pie, as it seems everyone else does. RONALD WEINER - Civil Defense Club claims this general student as a member. Liking all kinds of sports, Ron fishes and hunts but especially likes to swim in the summer, when not helping Dad on the iob in the bakery. BARBARA FRITTS - This cute gal who's a bundle of pep just loves to dance. Co- captain of the cheerleading squad, Barb likes to play baseball and bake. She is a member of the Gym Club and wants to become a nurse. ' PERSONALITIES 1-fee PENELOPE STECKEL - Busy, busy Penry is one of the wonders of White- hall. How does she get It all done? A high honor student, Pen is accompanist for the Concert Choir and editor of both the newspaper and year- book. In her rare spare tirre she likes to knit, read, and swim. KENNETH BALLAS - A real hsh fan, this popular guy knows more about fly rods and tackle than most men. Creamy writes out- door sports articles for THE OWL. Next to gopher hunting he likes to eat hfs favorite fried chicken, DOROTHY LYCHAK - Tiny and full Of fun, Dot's ambition is to work in an office, You can hnd her playing miniature golf, working crossword puzzles or driving a Ford. . .or playing True Love while feast- ing on a hoagy. JOHN MARUSHOK - Coecaptoin of the football team is one of Johnny's claims to fame. This busy boy is also on the baseball team, in the Boys' Chorus and Varsity W Club, and is the sports editor of THE WHITEHALL. Cars are Johnny's hobby, his '49 Plymouth fills most of his spare time. WILLIAM MARTIN - Pepper, an all 'round swell fellow, is president of the Varsity W Club and a three letterman in football, basketball, and baseball. In his spare time Pep enioys oil painting and is quite good at it,
