On August 25, 1952, we entered White Plains High once more. We were now dignified seniors. We had several new teachers to guide our steps; They v;ere Mr. L.E. Youngblood, principal.; Jfir, Campbell, our homeroom teacher; and Mrs. Gilman our English teacher. Many things had taken place during the summer. Three of our girls had cast their anchors and plunged off into the sea of matrimony. Much to our surprise, Sarah Angel and Olene Penny came back to complete their last year in school. Emma Allsup dropped out to go to Alaska, where her husband was stationed. Nathalie Holley again joined our class. She had transferred to Oxford, but came back to complete her senior year at White Plains. Dorothy Walker, a transfer from Alexandra, also joined our class. We elected the following class officers, Ronald Upshaw, President; Sybil Story, Vice President; Gaye Cheatwood, Secretary; and Betty Reid, Treasurer. We wish to express our many thanks and appreciations to all our teachers both past and present. They have all labored to help us through the rugged places, which were many. As we depart, we want to take our places in the world and make our marks high realizing that except for pain and separation, we could not have the ;pleasure of meeting again . We, the class of 53 Promise never to forget our school, forever will there reside in our hearts the dear old White Plains spirit . So, with tears in our eyes ,we bid farewell to dear old White Flains High. Historian; Betty Reid
