1 l ,, SSISTA T PRI CIPAL An organization also needs someone to act as the leader's assistant. At W. T. White, that man is Mr. Gene Colden. Mr. Golden is mostly a hehind-the-scenes mang but, although he is continuously busy, he still finds time to become acquainted with both the faculty and the student body. As a former coach, he takes an active interest in all sports events. His coaching back- ground also aids in helping to make the school work as a team, an important factor if a school is going to progress. .Qi

PRI CIPAL ln order for any organiza- tion to become great, it must have a capable leader and es- tablished order. A scho0l's leader is its principal. As With other leaders, a principal needs the full cooperation of lioth the faculty and student body in order to run a school efficiently. A principal is someone Whose foremost in- terest is the progression of his organization. lVlr. Santillo shares all these characteristics, but especially the last one. His interest in seeing W. T. White become a leading school has been shown in many ways, hut most noticeably in his crea- tion of the c'l'lonor Wn award in order to inspire more ath- letic and scholastic competi- tion and to lioost spirit among the students. iilliikigsllf ifmf1m1111'.'1'1'f'1'

White was designed for giving each student this advice in the most effi- cient way possible. The homerooms were divided among the counselors according to number, so that each counselor handles sophomores, juniors, and seniors. In this way, the counselors handle not only schedule difficulties, but are also avail- able to the students to discuss college and career possibilities, thus letting each student have the information he needs.
