31 OCTOBER 1967 W1-IETSTONE said her final good- byes on 31 October 1967 and departed San Diego bound for Long Beach. Arriv- ing Long Beach on 1 November, We loaded three bizarre looking barges, designated a PBR Mobile Support Unit which We would transport to Danang, We departed Long Beach that day in company With USS COLONIAL CLSD-185, a sister ship and fellow member of Amphibious Squadron Three.
