Ellie ilirrnrh Zlinremnrh HE Seniors of 1931 found that the only possible way of producing a year book in this year of depression was by financing it themselves, without the support of generous mer- chants. The class mer the challenge wich a spirited interest that resulted in a book which it believes superior to all those that precede it. Since every page, every picture in the book has been paid for by the students, the whole school has helped share the responsibility of the Annual. The theme, the Gay Nineties, was chosen because the editors of the book, working on a new plan, felt particularly near to the independent lilteraleurs of the Nineties who pro- duced in 1897, the first copy of The Record.
