I An important part of every school's reputation is the performance of its teams in athletic con- tests. When a school can boast of consistently winning teams, the students of that school have a right to feel proud. But what of a new school, a school that has yet to establish its reputation? Wheaton was such a school three years ago, and every student felt keenly the fact that the -' 1, .'1 .' y , 4, 554: Wheaton Knights was not exactly a respected name among the top-ranking local teams. Y '-sn kfx Cheerleaders Spark Spirit The two cheerleading squads, the Varsity and the Junior Varsity, both sponsored by Miss Mary Church, are carefully selected groups whose pur- pose is not only to cheer at games but to promote school spirit. The Varsity cheerleaders cheer at Varsity games, while the Junior Varsity pep squad cheers at all J.V. games. Till fa N1 1 Wheaton Winds Up Winning Season Wheaton's Crimson Knights started their third successful season of Varsity Football with a crushing victory over Gaithersburg and finished with seven wins and only two losses. One high- light of the season was the defeat of Sherwood, which until then had been unbeaten. Special awards came toward the end of the season. B. Quinter and C. Holmes made the second string on the All-Suburban Team with J. Goldberg and G. Tippett receiving honorable mention. V. Savoca not only made All-Subur- ban, but All-State and All-Metropolitan as well.
