Dear Graduates. June 4, 1976 It was the best of times, it was the worst of times, it was the age of wisdom, it was the age of foolishness. These immortal words written by Charles Dickens in 1859 can be aptly applied to almost any given time segment in history. It was certainly true in 1775 when our nation stood at the crossroads of its national future. A small group of colonists fired the shot heard roun d the world , and launched the American Ship of State on the uncharted waters of a new found freedom. Two hundred years later those same words from A Tale of Two Cities can be heard again. As graduates about to venture into the new and wonderful world of adult maturity, you will at times hear the prophets of gloom and doom say they are happy they are not your age, and starting out in life again. But I say to you, that your willingness to accept challenge with the boundless enthusiasm of youth is the mark of greatness that has made, and will make, our country the acknowledged leader of nations. What I am saying is as old as education itself. You, the graduates, are this schools most valuable assets. The staff and faculty have made every effort to produce a mature, responsible citizen leader, and we are proud of you. You are the start of a second two hundred years of human progress. The future will be challenging and sometimes difficult, but you, with your confidence born of youth will pick up the gauntlet and succeed. This is progress, and we at Weymouth North High School are proud to say we will have a part in your future. Sincerely, William T. Kearns, Principal
