I have watched many classes come and go from Weymouth High School. Each year a new group of students has been entrusted to my guidance. Though they come collectively, I must meet them separately in order to fill individual needs. Herein lies the challenge which renders my work never dull. My pri- mary purpose has been to teach each one of these young people to time his senses to his surroundings and to fully appreciate the world. Awareness alone, however, does not guarantee total en- lightenment; thus, I have tried to im- press upon him the importance of using his own mind and developing his poten- tial to the utmost. In this way he can form opinions and assume more con- fidence in his reasoning power. This will help to prepare him for the onerous responsibility which he must learn to accept with maturity. Keeping this ideal in mind, mediocrity and apathy are shunned so that high goals and curios- ity may be encouraged. By exposing him to a spectrum of ideas and answer- ing his queries I have laid a foundation on which he may build his own philoso- phy and define himself. Reward comes from the knowledge diat perhaps my efforts will someday benefit him in his future endeavors. ADMINISTRATION FACULTY GUIDANCE 6
