The Wetumpka Junior Varsity finished its season y with a 4-3 record: the same as last year. After M 1 V dashing to convincing wins over county rivals K 3 Tallassee and Elmore County, the baby Indians 'mi at suddenly found themselves with a 2-0 mark. Two KKK straight losses to Stanhope and Clanton evened their record at 2-2. However, staring adversity in the face, and being .. Q faced with falling below the .500 mark for the first time all season, the baby Indians bounced back and licked Eclectic moving their record to 3-2. Again, Stanhope proved to be a thorn, defeating the Indians for the second time and evening their record to 3-3. With a never give up attitude the Indians came back and spanked the Tallassee Tigers in the season finale. Tallassee's only two losses of the season came at the hands of Wetumpka. The JV will have seven offensive starters returning upon their '84 record. QV swf greg 'feat' Softball Team: Ftayfield Foster, George Bell, Curtis Splunge, Gerald Bowe, Eddie Mooney, Donald Motes, Johnny Alexander, Timothy Powell, Eric Rawls, Wendall Taylor, and Tyrone Butler. Wetumpka's Special Olympians have been very busy during the past year. ln March, the Basketball teams traveled to Dothan, Al. to participate in the South State Games. Both the Girls' and Boys' teams played well and represented WHS with pride. Last June the Softball team traveled to Marietta, Georgia to take part in the Division A, Coca Cola Southeast Tournament. They returned to Wetumpka as Division Champs and brought home an outstanding trophy to prove their prowess. They were also selected to participate in the World Series of Softball which took place in August in Senatobia, Mississippi. Only eight teams from across the nation were selected to participate in this tournament. The WHS team placed second in the nation. We feel this was an outstanding accomplishment for the Indian team, as this was their first year to compete in softball. The team was coached by Margie Flomer, Mitchell Knox, and Joel Thomas. 56
