The Panthers came to play, as the Indians soon found out, as Eclectic scored late in the first period to take a 7-O lead. One play after the ensuing kickoff, the Indians knotted the score on Butch Jordan's 66 yard scamper around left end and Ed Ca.rr's PAT conversion. The winning tally came late in the fourth quarter when Hall blasted across from the two. Once again as was the case all season, the Indians played a mag- nificent defensive game, limiting Eclectic to 11 yards rushing and '76 yards in the air, While the We- tumpka attack netted 242 yards total rushing. This was truly an important game for the Indians and made Homecoming '68 a total suc- cess. Wetumpka-13 Eclectic-7 141

CLANTON On a cool October evening a confident and undefeated Clan- ton Tigers squad came to Indian country. After the smoke cleared and the dust settled, the Tigers were undefeated no longer. This defeat occurred as the Wetumpka offense finally regained their much vaunted running attack as led by Denny Winn and Butch Jordan. The line blocked exception- ally well throughout the con- test as they opened up holes at crucial points of the game, while defensively our Indians played another outstanding game. TALLASSEE October 25, 1968, will be a day to remember for years to come, as the undefeated and highly praised Tallassee Tigers fell to the savage defense of the Wetumpka Indians. As the 13-7 score indicated, it was truly a brutal defensive struggle all the Way. Coach Tank Mitchell's Tal- lassee troops could never de- velop their highly regarded run- ning attack as the Indians con- tinually stopped theheralded Tiger standouts, Tim Posey and Robert Jones. This was the main reason for the Tallassee winning streak being snapped at six. The Wetumpka defensive unit deserves the glory for this big win as they completely dominat- ed the favored Tigers.
