ALEXANDER CITY After an opening game vic- tory over Prattville, the Indians tasted the first defeat of the 68 season. The Benjamin Rus- sell Wildcats of Alexander City stunned Wetumpka to the tune of 34-14. Jerome Jackson was the key to the victory as he scored three of the Wildcat touch- downs himself. The Indians just cou1dn't come with the right combination, and if it had not been for numerous mistakes it might have been a different ball game entirely. PRATTVILLE A capacity crowd of 4500 was on hand at Hohenberg Field to see our Indians hand the Lions of Prattville a humiliating defeat. It was Indians all the way as the Lions never really had a chance to stop and lick their paws. An on-side kick started the game as Prattville tried to catch the Indians off-guard. On the first play of scrimmage James 'STank', Owens brightened ln- dian hopes by lowering the boom on Prattville's Moncrief and caus- ed a fumble which big Jack Wood quickly pounced upon. From then on it was the In- dians all the way as they drove the ball through Moore's Lions for four touchdowns and never trailed through-out the contest. TROY The Indians faced one of their toughest opponents of the year in highly-rated Charles Hender- son High School of Troy. The Trojans jumped off to a quick lead in the first quarter and add- ed another tally in the second period which put them in front for good. Troy was waiting and poised for the outstanding ground attack of the Indians and stopped it with much success.
