LIAM HENRY BARBERA ANNA CORINNE DALRYMPLE sader-4, Track-2, All High Junior Play-3, Senior Play -4, Pep aol Play-2, Senior Play-4, Stu- Club-l'2-3-4, Secretary-Treasurer T Council-4. of Senior Class-4, National Honor Society-4, Annual'4, Reflector-4, Girl Reserves-l-2-3-4. 512501 Cffam Ohfiifozy sl SEPTEMBER, 1940, very young and eager Freshmen came to school. After barely surviving Freshman initiation, at which we wore green hair ribbons and socks-braids and paper hula skirts over knee-length slacks, we went to Deer Creek for a wienie roast. For our first year in school we chose Miss Betty Lambert as nsor, Lloyd Burton as President, Bill Nelson as Vice-President, and Lyman Trefethen as Secretary-Treasurer. The next year a group of slightly more confident Sophomores entered school with the notion of raising wey. We sponsored a Fiesta Dance, decorated all about with sombreros and huaraches. This year we in had Miss Lambert as sponsor, Eddie McClanahan as President, Bill Nelson as Vice-President, Marie mmpson as Secretary and Bettie Callaway as Treasurer. Our Junior year was memorable. Much time was spent on plans for the Prom. We chose as sponsor a. Green, President, Mona McCrew, Secretary-Treasurer, Orville Turner. A Swing Shift Dance was given 1 every one dressed as a war worker. Soon after this came the Junior Play, Nobody but Nancy, with Dixie Briggs and Wally Dugan playing the leads. The Junior Class won the lnterclass Basketball Championship year. The Junior-Senior Prom was the outstanding social event of the year. This Prom was held in the Cathe- Room of the Albany Hotel and in spite of snow it was a huge success. To end the year right, the celebration Ditch Day was spent at Indian Hills. Every one got wet but the fun was anything but damp. As Seniors the accent was on the biggest job of all, the job of life. Bill Barbera was President, Ann Dal- iple, Secretary-Treasurer. We didn't have as much time for parties as we had before but we did manage to 'oughly initiate the Freshmen. Just before Christmas we sponsored a Showed lnn Dance, which put every in the holiday mood. The end of the first semester scared a great many of the Seniors but we soon forgot our fears at the iors' Come as You Are party. The chili was good even after three bowls apiece. Then came the Senior Play, Spooky Tavern. Even the cast was scared when it was presented, One day in May the whole class turned up missing at school. This was officially Ditch Day. Since this the first time for ditching for many of us, we made quite an occasion of it. Later came the Junior-Senior Prom. We certainly enjoyed having it given to us by some one else. Commencement rolled around and we shed a tear or two as we marched down the aisle. We knew that for my of us this was the last time we should see each other. We all felt that we were making a real start with motto: Don't try dying, die trying.
