Dedication Goes To Favorite Four The i985-86 Chieftain staff honors four staff members who have contributed greatly to the excellence that has become a standard at Westwood 'Big AI Arbizu came to Westwood in l974. Since then he has received many letters of commenda- tion for his security enforcement. He is a sought-after crowd control expert in the school district, but what most of us remember about Al is his booming, bigger-than-life laughter and his constant willingness to assist students and staff whenever a problem arises. He has made the Westwood campus a safer, more pleasant one for all of us. Mrs. Bette Anderson has taught English at Westwood for the past I6 years. During those years she has become one of the most liked people at Westwood by both staff and students. One of her colleagues attributed her success to 'her devilish sense of humor'C Mrs. Anderson has hehved students in all phases of the English curriculum from Princyvles of English I to Children 's Literature to College Prep Writing. In her personality and in her classroom Mrs. Anderson is truly one of Westwood's outstanding teachers. 'Students don 't care how much you know after they know how much you care could easily have been coined by Westwood's vocational agriculture department chairman Leo C. Peterson. Mr. Peterson began lWestwood's agriculture department in l962 as a branch of Mesa High 's program. Since that time Mr. Peterson has developed the agriculture program into the finest in the state. Described by his students as a supportive teacher who makes learning fun, Mr. Peterson is a favorite with all of his students. Sally Bixby Sturdevant is the perfect Warrior. As a staff member she is loyal. cheerful, hehrful, caring and sharing. As a teacher, she is a perfect model. She does aerobics with her students each day. One of her students remarked 'Mrs. Sturdevant will live forever and never grow old. As warriorette sponsor, She has strong rules and expectations of the line and the successful perfor- mances that result from her discipline give the girls affection for their teacher. Westwood loves Mrs. Sturdevant as she loves Westwood., Dedication-I7
