Spirit Fever Sweeps Over Westwood Campus! Spirit was on the rampage! Everyone, everywhere, caught it! lt was evident at football games. Orange and blue balloons were sold to unite people. And that's exactly what they did. Chains of balloons were formed, stretching high above. Spray painted hair was used to let others know of spirit, it ranged from green to silver, to orange and blue. The weeks of major football games, such as Mesa High and Mt. View, were spirit weeks, too with such events as Western Day, with cowboy boots and hats, to Hawaiian Day, grass skirts, bright shirts and leis. The traditional Tease the Hares Day returned, and the old familiar orange and blue was the uniform dress at football and basketball games. The dances which followed nearly every game were all well attended. The new principal brought with him new ideas. Colored shirts for faculty and students bonded everyone together, for they brought a sense of familiarity, a cause which was possible to relate with. f it , TOP LEFT: Todd McKenna. Activities Start Year Gut With Bang! The annual Soap Bowl started the fall activities. Students met old friends at this game that raised soap for our football team, and made new acquaintances at the Hello Dance which followed. Lawn Projects were constructed the week of the Mt. View versus Westwood game, and this activity also brought new friends together. The juniors and seniors con- tinued to uphold the traditions of excellent, well-constructed projects. New members were registered for clubs during Thai-Chewee week. Each club set up a booth, decorated with the clubs theme, and tried to persuade students to join their club. The Curtain Time assembly brought out the hidden and unusual talents of many members of our student body. Many creative acts were performed, many never before attempted before alive audience. Arizona Blood Services, invited by the Student Council, received more than a record 85 pints of blood from students and faculty who decided to help their fellow men. xv-.W ,f I Affzy ......, ,, ' .. fr..
