Although it is primarily for non-Mixed-Chorus members who enjoy singing, several Chorus and some Orchestra members joined. Their main program of the year was the Christmas Vespers service, in which they presented the Cantata, Petit Noel . This is the second year they have sung these beautiful old French carols, and it was thoroughly enjoyed hy all. ln addition to putting on programs, the Clee Club enjoyed occasional informal song fests. 29

It was ably directed by john Burrows, who has con- ducted orchestra now for four years. Every Tuesday and Thursday after supper, practices were held in the Casino for the two major programs of the year: a concert given in the winter and the playing of the overture to the Operetta in the spring. Among the selections played were pieces by Beethoven, Bach, Hayden, Strauss and Lehar. Much work went into the two programs and everyone appreci- ated the excellent results. 28

Traditional barber shop melodies, rhythms, popular tunes and semi-classicals constituted its repertoire. We are sure that they have added much to the memories of the class of '53. Not to be outdone by the boys, the girls this year organized their own sextet. Under the talented guiding hand of Teacher Ernestine Hoff, who organized most of the music, the girls rendered sweet strains in girls' morning collection and in later shows. This organization was formed mainly for enjoyment, leaving the professional, polished performances to the boys. However, the rest of us certainly had as much pleasure in hearing them sing as they had in singing. 30
