That means only one thing: Work Sunday for the 1953 staff of the Brown and White, the school newspaper. Helen and Doug, heading the crew as co-editors, more than once switched the board around, adding, subtracting, and working for the best teamwork and skill among their staff members. Such Sundays brought batteries of typewriters, paper, victrolas, and cookies, and about ten Bee and Dubbers jammed into the Girls' Senior Parlor. Who wants to headline? , Penelope, it's all yours! , Pass the cookies , and Who wrote this little mess? , rose at frequent intervals above Brahms' First and the banging typewriters. Yes, they were fantastic, hard-working days. We hate to realize that when Volume XXXVIII-Number 8, goes to press, it will be our last. However, we hasten to add that everything that comes from being on that great staff is contagiousg so we pass it all on, the work, the fun, the jokes, to you the board of '54, with our best wishes for a successful year. Eugene Hogenauer , Faculty Adviser . . a' :fit ' ' 3 'X-I.Lz...f ,,,t--5-mage' This year the Amicus staff, with janet Hetzel as Editor and Dick Trismen managing the business, found itself completely new at the yearbook business with our faculty adviser, Master Gene Hogenauer, learning the ropes along with us. His know- ledge of and interest in photography proved to be of great help to Dick and Nan in the planning and taking of the pictures, as we decided to put more emphasis on photography in the yearbook. Quite a few things were changed and added this yearg the major ones being the different order of sections, the photo- graph divider pages and the descriptive Shakespeare quota- tions. The cooperation of the senior class was much appreciated by janet at the writing end and Bob with the typing. Senior committees were formed for Shakespeare quotations, Senior wills and the prophecy. Between Gil gathering ads, and Charlie and Norma selling subscriptions, the finances were very well taken care of. We'll remember the initial confusion, the rain every day Felicia and joe scheduled fall sports pixg Neil and Margie's Dec. 1 characteristics deadlineg gradually getting things under controlg sneaking in just under the deadlinesg the rubber cementing sessionsg Norm's designing and Edaik's dramatic Dachshundsg and then looking forward to the glorious clay when the product of all our trials and tribulations would lie in our hands - all 192 pages of it! 27 12, .,, , Q fha .an
