This year was quite a successful one financially as well as functionally for the Girls' Athletic Association. The candy store brought in much profit. With some of if this money, A.A. gave a party for the girls, and bought new athletic equipment. :X , The executives for this year were: Linda johanning, if Q' president, Kit Woods, vice-president, Char Penfield, A Along with these four, a board of team managers was included in the association. Not to be forgotten was the fun and friendly com- petition of the intramural games. Joyce Lower, captain of the Brown team, and Pat llunt, captain of the White v ,mf A-fi n team were'also included in the A.A. The Boys' Athletic Association during the '52-'53 school year was led by Colonel, faculty adviser, and jerry Michener,presidentg Kirk jones and Gil Hoag served as clerk and treasurer respectively. The rest of the board was composed of joe Flanagan, a manager on last years board, and the new managers of the various sports. Several times during the year, the executive board met with the captains and coaches of the different teams to get suggestions which would enable it to solve the various A.A. problems. The popular Brown and White competitions were made to run more smoothly. A.A. also chose the winners of the Varsity and junior Varsity letters and handled the finances of the athletic program. Both A.A.s were active in the ceremonies involving the laying of the corner-stone of the new gym. 22
