There was, of course, no chance to try to repeat a work- camp for this summer,so the efforts were centered upon a possible exchange student for next year or some year in the near future. linder ,lane Lippincott and Dave Wilcox, the Service Committee began a new system of rotating members to bring the committee closer to the student body. During the Christmas drive, food auctions and cake sales were held, Christmas cards were made and sold, and articles were knit for sending abroad. Since its revival a few years ago, the Student Council has elected its mem- bers. This year it consisted of two boys and two girls from each of the upper three classes and was supervised by Nlaster Tom Purdy. The committee's concern was the planning of the Sunday eveningVesper services. To have as much variety as possible in the programs, there were talks by faculty members, directed meditations, play and story readings, and a series of speakers from other religious denomi- nations. Student participation in the services was encouraged. The committee has worked well together and accomp- lished a great deal. 20

The rest of the board was composed of joe Flanagan, a manager on last years board, and the new managers of the various sports. Several times during the year, the executive board met with the captains and coaches of the different teams to get suggestions which would enable it to solve the various A.A. problems. The popular Brown and White competitions were made to run more smoothly. A.A. also chose the winners of the Varsity and junior Varsity letters and handled the finances of the athletic program. Both A.A.s were active in the ceremonies involving the laying of the corner-stone of the new gym. 22
