Since its revival a few years ago, the Student Council has elected its mem- bers. This year it consisted of two boys and two girls from each of the upper three classes and was supervised by Nlaster Tom Purdy. The committee's concern was the planning of the Sunday eveningVesper services. To have as much variety as possible in the programs, there were talks by faculty members, directed meditations, play and story readings, and a series of speakers from other religious denomi- nations. Student participation in the services was encouraged. The committee has worked well together and accomp- lished a great deal. 20

It also sponsored a sing session under Master llank and collected records of various kinds for the listening enjoyment of daters as well as singles in South Room. The committee worked hard at thinking up new and novel activities. Such things as dancing on the tennis court terrace Wednesday after supper, volley ball contests, and informal student talent shows were presented to the student body with good results. It also planned games in the Casino and had open-parlors at various times. The big wheels of the Steering Committee were Ralph Fairchild and Pat llunt. Faculty advisers were Teacher Anne Wood and Master ,Ian long. They had a most efficient and willing crew, which kept the students supplied with after dinner social activities. 19 For you and I are past our dancing days M . x if 1 .,.,ffrf-'rm fr' .ASF lf :TF W Nair gpg 32: J y ' A . gi? There was, of course, no chance to try to repeat a work- camp for this summer,so the efforts were centered upon a possible exchange student for next year or some year in the near future. linder ,lane Lippincott and Dave Wilcox, the Service Committee began a new system of rotating members to bring the committee closer to the student body. During the Christmas drive, food auctions and cake sales were held, Christmas cards were made and sold, and articles were knit for sending abroad. With the help and guidance of Teachers 'llarty Ciessler, Louise llart, and Agnes Thomas, and llaster Gene lloganauer, the committee had a successful and busy year. 21 Service is no heritage O .I 1 N . i Q. -.ww -- ,swf Q 1-N t 'gen M V--.YJS ' V6 M X '. rf il ,f 'li X '-w.,?5 if 5 gi
