The Work Program Committee led by students Steffie lletzel and Doug Kinsey with the able assistance and guidance of 'llaster Russ Edgerton, Teacher Laurel Bunker, Teacher Pfrnestine lloff and Teacher Ann Laidlaw, was the cause of this periodical outburst. Every Tuesday after lunch, Work Program met faithfully, and it was at these meetings that any wrinkles or problems connected with workjobs were ironed outg new problems were brought upg andvarious systems where- by jobs could be made more efficient were discussed. Backed by the good spirit and helpful cooperation of the student body, Work Program Committee could work to its fullest ability and when the year had ended look back 'fliifl' with a feeling of satisfaction. 18

Girls' Council this year accomplished quite a few thingsgand aside from the perennial latenesses and minor shikes, it met with few disciplinary problems. Some of the accomplishments resulted from the Suggestion Box, some from the Work Shop, and some from Council's own ingenuity. lt sponsored sandwich sales Friday nights to get money for a steam iron for Bacon Cottage. Also, it bought a subscription to the 'Saturday Evening Post' for the Girls' parlor. A more important innovation was the representation of day students on Council. Other activities were the initiation of new students, the Christmas Dance with Boys' Council, the painting of the Casino and the inaugural party at the end of the year Hwy J - 'Z ,- :gif f g'?'.g r- . . -.v-4 Good counsellors lack no clients :fig-lf' sip. ABSENT: Pete Day. teeming 6 ' Zee This year's Steering Committee prescribed turn- abouts for the non-daters and square dancing for the peppy enthusiasts. It also sponsored a sing session under Master llank and collected records of various kinds for the listening enjoyment of daters as well as singles in South Room. The committee worked hard at thinking up new and novel activities. Such things as dancing on the tennis court terrace Wednesday after supper, volley ball contests, and informal student talent shows were presented to the student body with good results. It also planned games in the Casino and had open-parlors at various times. The big wheels of the Steering Committee were Ralph Fairchild and Pat llunt. Faculty advisers were Teacher Anne Wood and Master ,Ian long. They had a most efficient and willing crew, which kept the students supplied with after dinner social activities. 19 For you and I are past our dancing days M . x if 1 .,.,ffrf-'rm fr' .ASF lf :TF W Nair gpg 32: J y ' A . gi?
