CLASS ODE The ship of parting has arrived, On which we all must climb. Its plank is graduation night, The waters, years of time. The port from which we now embark Is high school days all done; Our goal is that of happiness— We'll work till it is won. To bear us to our goal we do Not ask for quiet seas, But all we want is courage, faith, To shun a life of ease. And when the waves and billows roll, The sea is rough and high, We'll thrust aside our every fear; “Sail on” will be our cry. And as we board the ship tonight, The tears that we might shed Are for the memories left behind And unknown paths ahead. But through it all we will not fear, Our Pilot goes before. We're sailing on to future years, To land on a nobler shore. —MARGARET MACY— CLASS SONG (To “Young Lovers’) Goodbye dear classmates And good luck to you, The time has passed much too soon. We'll always remember our school days with you After commencement in June. Farewell to teachers and all others too, Who’ve helped so much from the start. We hope we have earned in the time Spent with you, a place in each Of your hearts. The best to you from class 62 Westport High, Adieu! —MARGARET MACY—
