-A SPECIAL THANK YCU-Q Adding that special touch are those who receive little recognition because they are behind the scenes. They help to provide a pleas- ant atmosphere for students and faculty not only with a clean school and a warm meal, but also with an encouraging smile and a warm hello. Thus, we extend a sincere thank you to our custodians and cafe- teria staff for adding that special sparkle to the routine of our school days. Mrs. Cothron works in the bookstore with her son Marty. Afterwards, she helps to provide a cleaner school. Mrs. Adcock and Mr. Johnson take a break from their busy schedule to pose for us. li iliiiwii ,flat ' 'T R 1 X 5 Sh THANKS FOR . . My most classic moment was when the Annual Staff dedicated the annual to me. This was something I'll always remember and be very grateful for it. Doris Anderson One day I was using one of our big kettles, I burned the food in it. I thought, I'll put some Scaleaway in the pot to help clean it. Granny Francis came along and she put some clorox in it. The two chemicals mixed. It looked like a witches brew. The odor was so awful Lou couldn't speak. Ruby poured it out the back door. She thought it was going to eat her tires off. We still laugh about it. Carol Borders I can't remember a classic moment while working in the cafete- ria, but I do remember one time. I took a bite of cornbread, the other workers were on the other end of the caferteria, and didn't know until it was over. I almost choked to death on the corn- bread. It was funny when it was over. But they could have been absent a worker, without knowing what had happened. Lou Day I have worked for eleven years in the cafeteria and one Valen- tine's Day they came with a beautiful pot of flowers. The card said, From your Secret Admirer, To Ruby. I made a statement that my husband didn't buy the pot of flowers, I suspected every- body else. I didn't take the flowers home that day. I tried to find a way to tell him first. When Kenneth got home he said he would have gotten me something for Valentines Day but he just didn't have time. I said that's all right someone has got in front of you. We had the biggest argument we had ever had in eighteen years. When you think you know someone like a book, you will find out you don't really know them as good as you thought you did. After all of this Kenneth had gotten the flowers for me. Ruby Graves Several years ago the cafeteria staff would cook for the Junior and Senior proms. This particular time we had lamb steaks, fresh strawberry shortcake, punch, etc. We would cook it in the cafete- ria and take it down to the gym the best way we could. This particular time we decided to take our punch on the small tables. We spilled it all the way to the gym. Finally. some parents decid- ed to help us since we were having a hard time. We got on the back of this truck with our white uniform pants on a rode back to the cafeteria. Guess what, when we got off we had black grease all over our pants. We didn't have any clean ones to put on and had to wear them the rest of the night while we worked. It was very embarrassing because this was a very special night. We really laughed and had alot of fun about this. Helen Lawson 9
