Mr. Frank Hieronymus Chairman, Division of Social Science Associate Professor of History B.A., Westmont College M.A., Claremont Graduate School 0 . . The social science department of Westmont College desires that the stu- dent find the contemporary world more easily understandable by giving him not only knowledge, but also respect for the past. This is done through analyti- cally studying the social and cultural differences and practices in evaluating data. This past year the social science di- vision of study advanced in several areas. Accompanying the addition of Nlr. Bibbero to the faculty, a new major was opened in Business Administration and Economics while the history offer- ings were enlarged with courses in Far East, Near East, and Latin American history with the help of another new teacher, Nlr. Kent. ln the future the department proposes to place more emphasis on the social welfare program, in anticipation of an expanded curriculum in this field. Nlr.
