From a grain of mustard seed to full bloom in twenty years has been the thrill- ing history, under God, of Westmont Col- lege. Two decades of continuous and dedicated service to Christian higher edu- cation have been built on the solid founda- tions of faith and prayer. Development and growth have matched the faith and prayers of the Westmont family and constituencies. In retrospect this year we see occupancy of the new Women's Residence Hall, Din- ing Commons, new library facilities, maroon and white bus-and two 1960 nine-passenger station wagons. Gifts and grants from cor- porations and foundations as well as indi- viduals have aided the students, research projects, and building program. Early in 1960 a Santa Barbara friend presented a gift of S100,000 for the con- struction of a new building to be known as the Ellen B. Porter Fine Arts Building. lt will provide an auditorium for recitals, lec- tures and related programs, classrooms, art and music studios, and faculty offices. The Nancy Voskuyl Memorial Prayer Chapel will be built at the foot of the formal gardens as a loving tribute to one whose life was a radiant testimony to the victori- ous Christian life. In prospect the next decade promises to be a thrilling experience in development as student body enrollment increases, ad- ditions are made to the faculty, and build- ings are added to the campus beautiful. Progress is contagious. Faith is the victory. at-it The new Dining Commons as seen in its beautiful setting on the campus.
