'I here is no doubt that she is far above the rest of us tat least in inchesj. Em izs most surely a worker. E stands for enthusiasm- M stands for might-and together We have Em , mighty enthusiastic. Apparently happy-go-lucky and carefiee, Em always rises to the oc- casion. Living in the country and waiting on buses for four long years has not spoiled uElll'S disposition, and while others flurry and fume, she has a way of keeping cool and self possessed. LOUISE SHAFFER Squeakie Actions speak louder lhan words. Squeakie doesn't say much, but her ac- tions show she takes a lot in. She can't iiide her intelligence though. Her weighty words and thoughts pour forth in a mighty stream when she gives those reports for which she is so renowned. Squeakie's faithful to others and to her- self. She's dependable and trustworthy. Things get done when Squeakie takes a hand. Quiet and unassuring, perhaps, but she's :ure to please. He be- lieves in time adage faint heart ne'er won fair lady excrpt when he acts in a play and then you never saw a more bashful lover. D nnj 's love of a good time often causes him to become a victim of the morning after but when there is a base- ball game he is far from sleepy as catcher. Danny has always been a great source of fun as an impromptu entertainer at holi- day seasons when he gives various read- ings and recitations to fill in the empty pauses. He has taken important parts in the Bazaar, Eisteddfod, and Declamation Contest. KENNETH SPRINKLE Coke A man among mmga lion among the ladies. Kenneth has proven both ol' the above facts to be true. He has displayed his fine business ability as a Business Manager for the 0wl . W'hile holding down a position as second-baseman on the baseball team Coke has shown his ability to give and take , as the case may be. He has star- red in other athletic events as well: es- pecially as pitcher on the speedball team. Most likely, Coke will turn out to he a big business man, and if he does, we are sure that he will be favored by Dame For- tune. We know, however, that he will not consider encountering the lumber busi- ness because he would be unwilling to part with his Log -ue. Coke , a true Senior, will live on in the hearts of the Class of '34. fPerhaps '35 also.l , WILLIAM STARNER Bimy His voice was as thunder Anfl fvm j?fIl down before him. Bimy is the strong silent man of the class. He's the proverbial stoic. He can take praise or knocks with the same grin :ind hand shake, so well known by all of us land perhaps cherished by SOME of ns?l Bilny is versatile. Have you seen him in plays? XVe need to say no more. llis characterizations will never be forgotten. Have you seen him in class? His splendid fboomingl reports speak for his scholar- fuhip. Have you seen him in the Owl of- fic-e ? The Owl profits prove his efficient ianagement. And have you seen him on horse? Well, why say more! Bimy's horses are Bimy's life. We fthe fair sexi hope that he exchang- es his life for a wife some day. -f.ev-- '- RALPH STULLER Stuller A friend in need is a friend indeed. Ralph is one of those rare personages- a quiet Senior. Very rarely does one of those distinguished beings condescend to live among us. Nevertheless, Ralph can contribute his share to class discussions as well as to everyday conversations. He has been termed a. sheik by many a fair town maid. We know little of his amorous affairs, but it has been said that he is frequently secn mingling among the fairer sex of nur school personnel. Already has Stuller begun his work in scientific farming and he can talk in- telligently along the line of crops, cows, ind cabbage. Ralph, may your stalk of success grow until you make the farmer what he has the right to be-the dictator in his own do- main. DORIS SULLIVAN Here'.s to Doris--good girls are scarce. Vivacious is the one word most descrip- tive of Doris. Oh, certainly, we may well add a flock of other nice ones, for anyone who sees that curly head, immediately be- comes one of its admirers. Doris has done much in the field of VV. H. S. athletics since she has been Mr. Curd's stand-by and Miss Brown's de- pendability -whether it be a game of run- and-catch or one of hitball. And then, too. she has proven herself to he quite a celery chopper. ilf you wish to see for yourself, visit the cafeteria bright and early in the morningj. We hear that Doris is planning a career as a specialist in beauty culture, but we predict that a certain Reds will interfere with that career. DOLLY TAYLOR f'D011y The belle qf the ball. Nearby is a tall, slender acme of fem- inity reveling in glee and bursting with excitement. She's just relating another of her many experiences. It's Dolly, of course. She's personality plus. Do1ly's versatility is a marvelous thing. She's a social success-with her wittiness and fun loving nature she's always the life of the party. She's talented in dramatics. The Declamation Contest winners and school plays' heroines speak for that. Aside from this, she has the voice of a nighten- gale. You all know that if you attended the operetta. And then, she ably held down her nonitorship on hall duty. ' V f 3 V ... n v 1 1 KENNETH TAYLOR Taylor He's a red-headed man from the soil. Kenneth. although one of -the quieter members of our class, has often brightened our dull days with his witty remarks. Despite the old belief that red hair is a sign of temper, we have found Kenneth to be quite cool and undisturbed, often when others are raving. Taylor seldom speaks unless he is first spoken to, but when he does condescend to give his opinion you can depend on its bc- ing worthwhile. Probably Taylor will choose farming as his life work and if he does we are sure he will set the Farm Agents working to keep up with his ideas. STEWART THOMSON Hominy Clean favored and 'imperially slim. Stewart, a jovial, stalwart, and trust- worthy Senior of W. H. S. hails from HAMPSTEAD, to become one of the out- standing members of our class. As a regular on the baseball and soccer teams and an active participant in track events Hominy has proven his ability to uphold o11r school colors. In the Eistedd- fod, his rich tenor voice added harmony to our boys' chorus, and again, with an impor- tant role in the Operetta, Oh! Doctor , he displayed his vocal and dramatical abili- ties. Hominy's mind seems to drift along theatrical linesg not as an actor, but as a theatre manager. We have learned that during his four years here at W. H. S. he as acquircd a Little star for his leading lady. RUTH WAGNER axRuthr9 As quiet and reserved as the modest violet. .Ruth is one of those quiet Seniors who never disturbs the peace and order of the high school. She has an optimistic outlook and a sunny smile for everyone. She cheerfully rendered valued assistance in the preparation for the annual bazaar and Home Economics events. As a shorthand student, Ruth is Miss Baker's stand-by, for she has devoloped the ability to take speed dictation at a rapid rate. Perhaps her heart has been pierced by Cupid's arrow: but we know nothing of the matter. Her pleasing personality has gained for her many friends.. Whatever she does is sacked up by earnest reasoning such as 'ill certainly spell success in the handling of her life problems. If you hear a spasmodic peal of laughter issuing from Mr. Curd's room no doubt Squeak is the cause of it. VVhen every- one else is blue she is at the height of good humor. And it's not long until the whole crowdfs in a good humor. Louise is entirely too busy to waste much of her time in this idling though. 'Frequently she can be seen rushing from one place in the building to another try- ing to track down the occupants of the Commericial room for she is the official keeper of the absence record of the busi- ness students. The Senior trips to Washington are al- ways a great aid to Dan Cupid and this year Louise's heart was pierced by one of his arrows THELMA YINGLING Thelma It is beller Io sleep than to slumber, It is better to love than Io hunger. Thelma is the class' sophisticated lady. How we envy her poise and uncoucerned dignity! She has that certain so1nething that makes people glad to know her and .happy to be with her and we confidently predict it will get her far ahead of the crowd. Thelma loves action. She's always on hand to help with social activijes-dances, ghost walks, cr what have you? . Thelma has been quite an athlete for the past three years, being captain of the vol- ley ball team and a splendid runner on the relays. SOCCER TEAM TOPS ALL HIGH SCHOOL TEAMS MET WITHIN THE COUNTY The Westminster Higl1 School Sort-er Team had very little trouble defeating all of its high school opponents scheduled this year. Although we did not play Mt. Airy High this year we defeated Sykesville High two games out of two and they in turn defeated Mt. Airy in a play-off series winning three out of five from Mt. Airy. Sykesville High was probably the hardest team to defeat having won from them by a margin of only two points in both games. Games Played by W. H. S.: W, H.
