44' Celebrating the 25th, how sweet it was The first graduation took place in 1958 and twenty-five years later we were cele- brating our silver anniversary. The prepara- tions for this event began last spring. Penny Loomer and her sister, Beth Loomer- Crumbley, did a lot of the work. With the help of Janet Whittenburg, the whole Crumbley family, and a few other people, ' the celebration drew a large crowd. The evening began at the Orange County Fair Grounds with lines of people trying to get their tickets and name tags. Once through the front door, the alumni had the opportunity to buy drink tickets. Soft drinks were 31.00 a cup full and alcohol beverages were 32.00 a shot. Further in there was a long table that had on it various foods such as: olives, carrots, crackers, pretzels, dips, etc. And along each of the walls were booths for the different graduated classes. In these booths people sat exchanging phone numbers, signing old yearbooks, and just shooting the breeze. In addition to the booths, there was also a dance floor for those that did not just want to chat, Here, the D.J. Dance Dimensions played songs from the 60's, 70's, and 80's. Some of the music included: How Does it Feel, Billy Jean, Old Time Rock 'N' Roll, and After the Loving. It was during this time that people danced slow dances, fast dances, the Twist, and a few others. At approximately 11:30 the evening con- cluded with a final dance, and then silence once again filled the hall. There's a lot of catching up to do A- Alumni exchange phone numbers and addresses so they can keep in touch. These 3 graduated the same year and haven't seen each other since. The image of the school marm is gone - Olga Tanner, science instructor, takes a break from all the excitement to pose, so that Lisa O'Brien could climb through the bushes and take this pic- ture.
