American Field Ser- and Westhill. Their AFS CDUR GIRL IN NORWAY German game demonstrated at Norwegian camp. Last summer, the Juliet Low World Friendship Fund, made up ofcontributions from Girl Scouts in the U.S.A., sponsored my trip to Norway and Iceland. My team of ten girls from the U.S. spent three and a half weeks in Norway--living with fam- ilies in OsIo,attending the NationaIGuide Camp in Arendal, and touringthe country by bus. In Iceland, we enjoyed the na- tional camp, which was co-ed, and a week's stay with families in Reykjavik. The summer helped us to discover the inter- national sisterhood of girls that exists th rough Scouting. Janet Biesemeyer

R.R., TTTX Merhaba, Kardeslar lHello, studentsl. On June 2O,i966, I left home for an AFS trip to Turkey, due to return September l2,l966. While there, I stayed at Gazientep with the Guner family. The family consisted of the father, Ali, the mother, Fatma, and three sons, Atilla, Aktay, and Cemil, who were aged i9,i8, and 15, respectively. During my stay in Turkey, I made several side-trips throughout the country, spending one week each in Ankora, the country's capital, Istanbul, Arsuz, on the Mediterranean, and Malatya, in the mountains. My knowledge ofthe language upon arrivalin Turkey was some- what limited, although aboard ship on the way there, we were given about twenty-four class hours ofinstruction.Manyother words l learned when l got there--the hard way lby first being embar- rassed and then being setstraightby my Turkish father or brothersl!
