As time passed, we discovered that the man who stood behind that name approached his appointed position with a genuine sense of responsibility. In Mr. Bogan, the Class of 1968 found a man who cared and a man willing to become involved. Now, as we prepare to go our many ways, the members of the Class of 1968 gratefully acknowledge the devotion of Mr. Bogan to our welfare. In dedicating the 1968 TEKOA to him, we honor not only a respected educator and fellow crusader, but a most valued and trusted friend. vO V J . Any nation, society, or civilization depends upon its youth to carry on and improve its way of life, its ideals, its traditions, its heritage. All are entrusted to younger hands. To insure preparation for this most important responsibility a society develops a system of education to provide the knowledge, the vision, the competence — the desire and energy to forge ahead and the wisdom to exercise proper restraint. Historically our nation has a deep commit- ment to this education. Now the time has come, your formal studies completed, for you, the Westfield State College Class of 1968, to assume your place, your responsibility in the adult world. Truly a most challenging world it is, beset by military strife abroad with racial unrest, poverty, and deep political differences at home against a background of increasing inter- national competition. Your contribution will in a very real sense reflect the adequacy of your education. It is now that your days at Westfield will prove their worth to self and society. I am most certain that your actions and your accomplishments will reflect credit upon you and Westfield State College. As you close your career as students and leave our campus, be as- sured of my heartiest congratulations and best wishes. Return Soon. Westfield has need of your support. 10 FACutrv H ljoua BJ dfr tfifi ttatuj you [iftu t y cfo , ioW Sfc ©uglifr 1 be cfo te , iuWW you fo w nofc . . . Dr. Edward A. Townsend De a of Faculty Robert P. To the Class of 1968 we hope it will be a treasured memento of the four years we have spent here. But this yearbook can not end unless we take this oppor- tunity to recognize some of the members of this institution who have helped us in untold ways. As we leave this campus two other people leave with us. While the graduation of the Class of 1968 is a joyous occasion, the retirement of Miss Erna Bayless is a great loss. A dedicated teacher and a wonderful person leaves this campus and her memory will long be a part of Westfield State College. To Miss Bayless we bid a fond goodbye. Anyone connected with Scanlon Hall will long remember our house- mother Mrs. MacDonald. When she left a part of us went with her and a part of her will stay with us. There are no words that can adequately express our gratitude and respect for Mother Mac. It was indeed a pleasure to be here with her and an honor to leave with her. There is yet another person to acknowledge. The TEKOA staff is greatly indebted to our advisor Mr. Amico Barone. This yearbook would not have been possible without him. 258 Stanley Home Products, Inc. Westfield, Massachusetts 259 WESTFIELD MUTUAL INSURANCE AGENCY, INC. Westfield, Mass.
