DR. EDWARD J. SCANLON PRESIDENT EMERITUS Class of 1963: In grateful recognition of your kind and thoughtful request to write a few words for your yearbook to keep alive the happy years we spent together at Westfield State College, I pen these few lines with sincere affection. To have been associated with pupils so truly representative of the ideals of Westfield State College, so appreciative of my efforts to give you a physical plant for which you can be justly proud, and to have played a part in the academic and spiritual training which should make you educational stalwarts in our great state and nation, is indeed most satisfying. But the warm personal ties of loyalty and friendship which bind us together will always be one of my most cherished memories of the class of 1963.
