A. Message to Western Students: Western is genuinely proud of the fine group of students who, by their demonstration of academic excellence, good citizenship, and other outstanding achievements, have distinguished the 1963-64 student body as one of the best in the history of the College. In commending you for your individual achievements, I also want to ex- press sincere appreciation for the contributions you have made in so many ways. Gratitude is especially directed to the Senior Class and to others who have provided the leadership in the publication of this beautiful Talisman and who have contributed to other worthwhile endeavors. We are experiencing an exciting period of growth and development, which presents a distinct challenge to every element within the College. The strong foundation of our future progress must be built from the coordinated efforts of a dedicated faculty and staff, loyal alumni and friends, and outstand- ing student body. Each of you is a vital part of Western, and it is hoped that Western has become a part of you. The spirit of the College can be pceceived and perpetu- ated only if it continues to be a sustaining force in your life and in mine. The College pledges to you that it will constantly strive to achieve greater goals and to maintain a program of which you can be proud, , Sincerely, Ve President 20 THE PRESIDENT Dr. Kelly Thompson and Mrs. Thompson look approving- ly at Mrs. Mary Armstrong, President of the Muhlenberg County Alumni Club, during the “This is Your Life” program honoring President Thompson at Central City.
