A recently installed language laboratory enables students to hear and practice the language outside the class- room as well as in it. The way in which man lives is controlled by the natural world. Man must adjust his surroundings by cooperating with nature. Research Discovers the Elements of Nature Faculty members of the Geography-Geology Department were engaged this past year in research projects such as the Travel Program in connection with the National Education Association. Three members of the staff also participated as active members of the Illinois Geographic Society. To im- prove the student-teacher relations, the department inaugu- rated a program of weekly meetings, where majors and minors have informal discussions with their instructors. Reece A.
