Mrs. Loueth Pouch brings the spirit of gay France to our hearts as we study her French course. Mrs. Louella Pouch and Mrs Betty Henderly teach us the enticing language of our neighbors to the south, and Mn Karl Herrle teaches us German, 0 language of science and culture. Misses Burk, Witte, and Steinmetz discuss the trophies won by the girls' gym. Miss Klasemer watches the lines from her doorway. Messrs. Morgan, French, Clark. and Johnson tape the football playersd ankles for CI tough game.

Our English department teaches us to express ourselves clearly and to understand other people in the world through reading about them. Misses Thelma Baechle, Francis Brownj Eda Devine, Mary Dufficy, Virginia Good, Anna May Klaserner, Thequ Kolks, Ruth Mce Kinley, Florence Tebbenhoff, Irene Walters, Lenore Weber, Mrs. Mil- dred Bees and Vesta Watson, and Messrs. Thomas Burns and Arthur Chestey lead us in the varied fields of English. .A. VAT Western Hills is fortunate and proud to have a fine school library. Misses Glass and Loque, the school librarians, are there crt all times to aid and guide our students in finding reference material, non- fiction and escape literature. Messrs. Pollock, Miller, and Miss Good listen to c: joke while watching lunch linest Messrs. Klippel, Yung, Kupphczhn, cmd Wollenhcxupt chat over an open fire while Misses Glass, Davies! Brugmcm, Mrs. Mendenhall, and Miss Loque prepare food at the teachers' picnic

Miss Bolcm listens intently to the musical ensemble of Miss McKinley's third bell class. Miss Tebbenhoff shows a student CI doll for one of the many Red Cross boxes sent from Western Hills. 32 After studying world history, American history, sociology, and economics, we understand more readily the world around us, its peoples and problems, its trends of history. Misses Laura Fisher, Anne Geeting, Rebecccx Krasne, Jeanette Long, Dolores Mastin, Dora Slutz, Elizabeth Suterj Mrs. Thelma Morris, and Messrs. Thomas Pouch and Henri Hess are the faculty members Who help us attain this worthy goal. Today it is eSpecially necessary for all of us to know our fellow men well, and this can only be done by understanding them through contact with them and through knowledge of their lives and customs.
