DEDIBATIU At this time, when the world is coming to realize more than ever the importance of education as the backbone of all civilization, we pause to pay tribute to a man who has devoted his life to its progress-our beloved principal, Mr. Benjamin H. Siehl. On May 29, 1928, a record crowd gathered for the dedication of the new high school. The first clod of earth was turned over by the man who was soon to successfully lead the school through the trying days experienced by all new institutions. The infant school made great progress that first year. The senior class, which consisted of only twenty-three pupils, chose the school slogan: cooperation, the school motto: Lux et Veritaspand the school colors: maroon and cream. Mr. Siehl guided Western Hills through infancy and adolescence. Under his capable leadership, it grew and matured to take its place among the five highest accredited high schools in Ohio. The termination of this school year will mark the close of Mr. Siehl's career which has been devoted, for over half a century, to the cultural and educational enrichment of young American lives. It is with heart-felt regret that we see him leave Western Hills, we are grateful for the magnificent heritage he leaves behind him. The school he fostered will continue for many years to serve the people, a fitting and inspiring monument to his life of service. 7
