-..unix l96l This year's opera The Fran- tic Physician is a French com- edy. The cast is unusual in that one of the faculty, Mr. Monk, played the leading baritone part, Sgnarelle. In the first scene he is testing Lucind's pulse while her father Geronte looks on. Next, Mr. Stokes, the competent and dynamic direc- tor of the opera chorus, leads, and orchestra, tells Leander and Lucas how best to portray their roles. Sgnarelle and Jacqueline smile slyly although each is be- ing severely chastised by his wife and husband respectively. Valere is awaiting the doctor's verdict with Martine and Jac- queline.
