CONDON, idealist, writer, nationally known figure in educational fields, Who, during his many years as superintendent of schools, always enthusiastically and ably supported and abetted all the projects of this city which stood for improve- ment and the advancement of human welfare, who was proud of her eminence in governmental, educa- tional, and artistic endeavors, and contributed much to her growth and fame, we, the Seniors of the class of 1931, respectfully dedicate this year- book. We hope it will serve as a reminder to him of the city he loved and served, and of our affection- ate remembrance of him.

IN ANCIENT PIONEER DAYS SHE WAS CROWNED QUEEN OF THE NEW WEST- ERN EMPIRE. TODAY WE FEEL HER TITLE APPLIES IN A NEW SENSE, THAT SHE TRULY REIGNS BECAUSE OF SCENIC BEAUTY, JUST AND UNBIASED ADMINISTRATION OF PUBLIC AFFAIRS, UNEXCELLED EDUCATIONAL OPPOR- TUNITIESg ACKNOWLEDGED PATRON- AGE AND APPRECIATION OF MUSIC, ART, DRAMA, AND LITERATURE, AND AMAZING NEW DEVELOPMENTS AND OPPORTUNITIES IN THE COMMERCIAL FIELD. THEREFORE, WE, THE SENIORS OF WESTERN HILLS, HAVE CHOSEN CIVIC PRIDE AS THE THEME OF OUR 1931 ANNUAL, AND ARE ATTEMPTING TO SHOW IN OUR BOOK WHY WE ARE JUSTLY PROUD OF OUR CITY'S AD- VANTAGES IN THE VARIOUS FIELDS. WE HAVE ATTEMPTED TO TIE UP THE LIFE OF OUR SCHOOL WITH THE LIFE OF THE CITY, TO SHOW THAT OUR ACTIVITIES HERE ARE ONLY PREPARA- TION TO ENABLE US TO CARRY ON THE LARGER PROJECTS WHICH GIVE CINCINNATI HER HIGH RANK AS A LOVER OF THE ARTISTIC THINGS OF LIFE AND MAKE HER THE CITY WITH- OUT LIMITATIONS.
