FOREWORD vw WE HAVE CHOSEN the stage as the theme of our book, for we feel that our years in Western High School, our little theater, have been like a melodrama containing, it is true, tragic, disheartening scenes but varied with countless joyous ones. In our freshmen and sophomore years as wide-eyed juveniles, frightened just a wee bit at the unaccustomed glare of the footlights, we turned often to the ever ready support and guidance of the veteran actors, the Seniors, and the patient directors and stage hands, our teachers. As Juniors we were elevated to the coveted position of understudies where we, accustomed now to the bright lights, prepared to take our places in our senior year as the veteran actors. In this position we not only worked harder at rehearsals and enjoyed to a fuller extent the applause but also helped some of those in our sister year with their cues. Now at last we have reached the happy-ending, graduation, and retire from the stage satisfied in the conviction that we have done our best through cooperation to make our production a success.
