GIRL RESERVES I UN IOR GIRLS CLUB Cozily warming themselves about the tire during one of their meetings at the Y are the members of Western's Girl Reserve Chapter. Members of a country-wide social organization. their aims are the development of character through the pursuit of pleasure. They have sponsored numerous dances and splash parties. Led by Miss Almyra Priest, they have elected as officers President Ann Grausam, Vice-Presi- dent Audrey Kellso. Secretary Phyllis Iehle. Treasurer Lois Hemingway, and Corresponding Secretary Bar- bara Kemper. Are you acquainted with the Iunior Girls? This social club was organized to promote friendliness among the freshman girls. The of- ficers are Pearl Posner. president: Evelyn Dunn. vice-president: Marilyn Morden, secretary: Patricia Hengy, treasurer. Meetings are devoted to social activities such as games. swim parties. and picnics. The club is sponsored by the Misses Pawlick and Burns. The Club. under the direction of Coaches Babcock, Gunnerson. and Matheson. is organized to promote Western athletics and make the members conscious of the responsi- bility of wearing a The year's activities are climaxed by a banquet in Iune to which col- lege coaches and outstanding per- sonalities in the athletic world are invited. Nw X UF OTE The Mixed Chorus has this year blended their voices in mellow har- mony on many occasions. In addition to their annual Christmas and Easter programs. they have appeared at the Hollywood Theater on Good Friday, on our own stage in many shows, among them the May Festi- val and the Scrap Drive celebration, and in the Graduation Pageant. Out- standing voices in the Chorus, led and coached by Mrs. Lucille Miller. have been those of Mary Elizabeth Haley. contralto: Anne Hazel and Leatrice Lynn, sopranos: Leonard Stamp, baritone: and D o n a l d Stephens, bass. These two groups ol thrushes Qtop and bottom pixl are known formally as the Girls Glee Club and the Boys' Glee Club. Very lew appearances have been made this year by either group: the girls singing in the Scrap Drive program and the Christmas and Easter pro- grams, while the boys have vocal- ized only on the Christmas program. Both groups are directed by Mrs. Miller.
