The season's finale found U. of D. dropping a 19-6 de- WESTERN PL Western's pigskin warriors made the '42 season one big happy rodeo by winning six of their seven starts for their best record since the prehistoric days of 1924. The schedule opened on our home Wright bit the turf. losing 25-0. For the cowboy squad was surprisingly was charging aggressively. opening grounds as Wilbur an opening game. effective. Our toughest game found Western pitted against Cooley. who finished the season as Metropolitan Champs for the second successive year. The Cardinals just had too much power. coming out on the long end of a 28-7 score. Coach Matheson's charges bounced back the following week to humble Central. When the debris was cleared. Western was found to have won 27-7. The supposedly invincible Mackenzie was the next to fall dropping a close. bitterly contested battle, 13-6. Victory was triply sweet the next Friday. as our gridders lowered the Blue and Gold of Southwestern on our dearest enemies' home grounds. Mosher, Foley and Com- pany rolled back the Prospectors by a 32-0 score. South- - .. nw AYS BALL ! western was simply outcharged and overpowered for possession of the Little Brown lug. The game was marked by other characteristics. as Western drew slightly in excess of 100 yards in penalties to the Southwestern 40 odd yards. cision to a superb Western squad. Bill Foley also made All-City first team. while honorable mention was accorded lim O'Grady, Chuck Misko and Leo Zaiac.
