There were several highlights. One memorable scene was the last scene in act one. Everybody in the Sycamore family was doing what they really do, when Mr. and Mrs. Kirby walked in. Recall Martin Vanderhof played by Kyle Minor, gnaw- ing on a tomato. Recall DePinna, plaveri hv tun Campbell, donned in toga, gartered socks, smoking a pipe while holding a discus- like plate. Penelope Sycamore, played by Bar- bara Lewis was painting the romanized DePinna. And the drunken actress Gay Well- ington, played by Brenda Burroughs, was out cold on the couch. Ed Sycamore, played by Rob Kleinedler, hacked away at his xylophone while Essie Sycamore, played by Cherie Chambers, balleted to the noise. Ed Sycamore, played by Anthony Basham, was tapping the ingredients into a fireworks rocket. Alice Sycamore, played by Azareem Zavareei, was talk- ing to her fiance Tony Kirby, played by David Tackett. And while this was hap- pening, Rheba the cook, played by Cynthia Bayne, was letting Wall Street ty- coon and wife Mr. and Mrs. Kirby, played by Doug Miller and Laurie-Ann Opuszynski, into the home. After a week of intense rehearsal, the group left Buckhannon and headed for New York City. The group had a stop over in Princeton, New Jersey and played a concert there. Bright and early the next morning the group headed for JFK air- port. After many delays and hours of waiting, the group was on their way! After landing in Vienna, the band traveled to Budapest. Hungary. The highlight of the five days there was a recording session for Hungarian Radio. The next week was spent in Romania. The band traveled to many towns and villages including Sibiu, Brasov, and Timisoara. Here the audiences were very excited to hear American music. The band members were surrounded by fans asking for pins, pencils, or any token of America that could be given to them. They even wanted the band members ' autographs! After this, the group returned to Hungary for a few days and then it was off to Vienna, Austria. Here the band participated in the Blue Danube Jazz Festival. Other per- formers in the festival included Dizzie Gillepsie and Herbie Han- cock. The band ' s free time was spent shopping and taking in all the wonderful sights of Vienna. Good-bye Poem 203 m FRIENDS ARE FRIENDS FOREVER - t F TIC 1 K LJ â– ll 1 1 204 Ending The 1987-88 school year was one of many special mo- ments. It saw the girls basketball team with the best record in twenty some years and a winning football, soccer, and men ' s basketball team. For me, it saw the most memorable moment in my life ... my engagement to my high school sweetheart, Ensign Marc Steiner. With all these memories to depict, I truly had a great time working on this year ' s book. I want to take this opportunity to thank all of those who helped to get this book out on time especially Jenean Pinnell whose work on other sections besides her own was greatly appreciated. Thanks to Elizabeth Boocks for her fantastic ideals for the underclassmen section, to Elizabeth Fugitt for a great job with the organizations and honoraries, and to Trish Correll for being a terrific assistant. I also want to thank my roommate, Marie Lane, for all her support and for putting up with me and all my yearbook complaints (ZLAM!). In addition, I want to thank the Wesleyan Community for four wonderful years of learning and entertainment. Hope you all enjoy the yearbook! Sincerely, Deanna R.
