A BIRTHDAY TRIBUTE TO A GRAND LADY On November 19, 1965, Mrs. Carrie Darnell, Wesleyan ' s oldest living alumnus, celebrated her 100th birthday. Attending ceremonies at Mrs. Darnell ' s home were representatives and officials of the college, including President and Mrs. Martin, and the officers of the classes. President Martin presented Mrs. Darnell with two dozen roses as friends and relatives looked on. Mrs. Darnell attended Wesleyon (then known as the W. Vo. Conference Seminary), during the period of 1890 to 1893 where she received her degree in pedagogy (teaching). Mrs. Darnell related some of her experiences while she was a student.
