The Mountaineer Week Team is a group of goodwill emissaries sponsored each year by Mountain, senior men ' s honorary. Members of the team visit high schools over the entire state and place before their student bodies the ad- vantages of attending West Virginia University. They serve as a liaison between state high schools and the university. Tryouts for positions are held in early March under the direction of Dr. Richard Aspinall, AND MOUNTAINEED WE[K T[AM coach, and it is not until Easter vacation that the team makes its annual tour. This year for the first time, several women students will accom- pany the group and speak before some of the prospective students of the university. Paul J. :n. ouncled in 1904, Mountain is the ranking senior men ' s honorary organization on the campus. Membership in it is limited to out- standing men students who have been enrolled in the university for at least five semesters. New members are chosen in the spring. As part of its program of aiding the university in all ways possible, Mountain each year sponsors the Mountaineer Week team, one of the most important of all student activities. D Sphinx, senior men ' s honorary, is one of the nnost active organizations on the campus of West Virginia University. The most important of its activities, and one of the most important on the campus, is the an- nual Interfraternity Sing, sponsored by Sphinx each Mother ' s Day. Sphinx also sponsors awards for the best decorated fraternity house on Homecoming Day and last year for the first time, it supervised a play contest, de- signed to create more dramatic interest among cam- pus organizations; each year it gives certificates to the ten highest ranking freshmen. In line with Its policy toward freshmen. Sphinx helps to publish the . sh- man handbook and conducts freshman guidance meetings.
