1976 Homecoming Queen — Peggy Stassi Janine Mergler, as Shirley Temple, wins the Costume Con¬ test. Vicki Royals cheers the Spartan team to victory over the Oak- ton Cougars. Friday was an exciting day which started with a pep rally, including a skit by the Spartanettes and many spirited cheers led by the Varsity Cheerleaders. Later that afternoon everyone got a preview of the floats at the parade. At last Friday night came, and with a victory over Oakton it was a perfect night. During half-time all eyes were upon the Homecoming Court as Peggy Stassi was announced Homecoming Queen and Jodi Hensley her Maid-of-Honor. It was a magnificent week for those who participated. The Spartan Spirit and enthusiasm was shown in many ways. At the end of the wonderful week came the Homecoming Dance . . . The Senior girls took on the Juniors in the annual Powderpuff game. ST1IE SCREED’ The Fashion Show, sponsored by the Future Homemakers of America in cooperation with Montgomery Wards, highlighted Thursday’s activities. The 1976 Homecoming Court was introduced wearing formal gowns and escorted by Key Club members. The Fashion Show also allowed everyone a peek at new fashions for the upcoming year. Flames and sparks filled the sky Thursday night as Spartans gathered around to build spirit and break down evil at the annual bonfire. Student Life 25

Smiling couples arrived shivering from the cold, and with breathless anticipation, entered the dim warmth of what had been a cafeteria, now transformed into a glittering and enchanted ballroom. The theme was “Just You and Me,” a tune by the ever-popular Chicago. Couples danced their way through the evening to the music of Sun Valley. Student Life 27
